No compromises By applying its quality management system and a company-wide zero-error campaign based on the Six Sigma method, EPCOS consistently improves its process control and thus the quality of its products. Numerous distinctions show that customers appreciate this strict approach to quality. Today, ever more demanding quality requirements are passed on through the entire production chain. Tougher quality standards are increasingly the norm in the company's key markets, such as the automobile industry, the information + communications sector as well as in industrial and consumer electronics. Manufacturers insist that their suppliers run QM systems that cover all functions within the company and are aimed consistently at controlling its processes reliably and improving them continuously. These requirements are laid down in the international QM system standard ISO 9001 as well as ISO TS 16949, which is based on the former. EPCOS quality policy stipulates that its QM system must satisfy the requirements of
the most demanding international standards in each case. Thus corporate certification to ISO TS 16949 began in 2003 and was achieved in February 2004. The EPCOS QM system is continuously monitored and systematically developed within the company. Zero tolerance of compromise in quality also means striving for ongoing improvement in a continuous process. Six Sigma at EPCOS Within the scope of its COMPETE program (COst Management, Process Excellence, Time Efficiency), EPCOS is introducing the Six Sigma method throughout the company in order to: make processes more reproducible, reduce the number of variations, cut costs, and ensure quality. Process control is the key to business success. It is the only way to ensure products and services of the highest quality and thus customer satisfaction. Hersteller bestehen bei ihren Lieferanten auf QM-Systemen, die sich ber alle Funktionen des jeweiligen Unternehmens erstrecken und konsequent darauf ausgerichtet sind, Prozesse sicher zu beherrschen und st ndig zu
verbessern. Diese Forderungen haben sich in der internationalen QM-Systemnorm ISO 9001 und der darauf aufbauenden ISO TS 16949 niedergeschlagen. Dass das QM-System bei EPCOS den Forderungen der jeweils anspruchsvollsten internationalen Standards gen gt, hat EPCOS in seiner Qualit tspolitik festgelegt: So wurde die Konzernzertifizierung nach ISO TS 16949 in 2003 in Angriff genommen und in Februar 2004 erreicht. Das EPCOS-QM-System wird intern st ndig berpr ft und systematisch weiterentwickelt. Keine Kompromisse bei der Qualit t zu akzeptieren, hei t auch, in einem andauernden Prozess immer noch besser zu werden. Six Sigma bei EPCOS Im Rahmen seines COMPETE-Programms (COst Management, Process Excellence, Time Efficiency) f hrt EPCOS im gesamten Unternehmen die Six-Sigma-Methodik ein, um Prozesse reproduzierbarer zu machen, die Zahl von Abweichungen zu senken, Kosten zu sparen und Qualit t zu sichern.
